Positive Outlook
Approves of CEO
I have been working at Design Design full-time for more than 5 years
Pros
The company is growing and progressing, so there are new people coming in and a lot of great opportunities! The office is a very friendly work environment with great company culture. The leadership team truly cares about their employees and pushes to ensure that the company’s core values are being practiced throughout the office. Overall, the team here works very well together, and is passionate about the company and believes in their products!
Cons
With change comes new challenges that the company is facing and actively trying to work through. As the company grows, it is hard to fill new roles in a timely manner, so people feel overworked and overwhelmed with their current workloads.

Disapproves of CEO
I worked at Design Design full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
Met some cool people there
Cons
Save yourself the energy and disappointment of trying to fit into a company where the only people who matter are related to each other
But literally:
– The parking lot
– Below market pay
– Regularly no cleaning staff
– Dusty, old, outdated offices
– Nepotism
– Under staffed
– Terrible management practices
– Passive aggression is everywhere
– You can smell the sadnessContinue reading

I worked at Design Design full-time for less than a year
Pros
Grand Rapids location provides a great quality of life, most of the employees are delightful, owner seems to care about the business and growth. Great job for young women. Men? not so much.
Cons
Management under the owner in the marketing department is in permanent CYA mode. They offer no training, the positions are truly baptism by fire. Once you struggle, they have no problem in throwing you under the bus. The perceived usefulness they have about employees is a shifting and constantly moving target.

I worked at Design Design full-time for more than a year
Pros
The location is the only good thing I can think of regarding this company.
Cons
Managers and owner are truly not interested in the employees. The frustrating part is that they say one thing to employees, but then do another. Empty promises. This isn’t a ‘one time’ thing, but quite a common occurrence there. Some of the managers are sneaky and back-stabbing…so employees learn to always be on guard, which is sad.

I worked at Design Design full-time for more than 8 years
Pros
Fellow workers. When given the opportunity to show what they can do, employees excelled. Dedicated work staff. Location is great for experiencing downtown GR.
Cons
Management. Managers tend to ‘over control’ employees, to the point of stifling creativity and productivity. This is a sure sign of the managers’ fear that they could be replaced. A few employees are given carte blanche, while others are not allowed to grow at all. Product is ‘very inspired’ from the competition.

I worked at Design Design full-time for more than a year
Pros
Location. Great place to do lunch or after work downtown.
Cons
They let employees go without any notice. Some were stellar employees and worked 6 months, others worked 10+ years. You just never know your employment security from day to day. Sadly, this company works mostly in a ‘panic mode’, where everything is rushed so fast that their are bound to be mistakes. And, when the mistakes happen, the employees are yelled at. Hostile environment at times. Some managers have a very short fuse and don’t listen when an employee brings up a concern. Basically, you are there to perform a task in a cubicle and not to think or try to suggest improvements.

I worked at Design Design full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
Good place to start as a designer, but not a place to make a career. Gain software knowledge, printing process knowledge, general corporate environment. Fellow designers are nice.
Cons
This job was high stress, high demand, little pay, shady owner/management. Questionable business practices. Untrustworthy management. No appreciation for creatives that make the products they sell. Hostile, high anxiety environment. They have no concept of a successful working production schedule. Deadlines are never met because too much output is expected by too few employees.
